Ubuntu 11.04 will not work with U3 !!

Yes !! That is weird but true that latest Ubuntu 11.04 aka Natty Narwhal will not get installed if you’ve created live CD on your favorite U3 drive. I learned it hard way that latest of Ubuntu simply will fail to get install itself if you are using U3 usb drive and will generate some strange error at installation time, something like

/init: line 7: can’t open /dev/sr0: No medium found

/init: line 7: can’t open /dev/sr0: No medium found

[ 12.2466401 aufs 2.1-standalone.tree-30-reM-20110207

stdin: error 0

for which you can’t make head or tale of the error until you read at this official Ubuntu document that specifically tells that version 11.04 will specifically wont work if you have U3 drive from SanDisk. Unfortunately, I am one of that users so I had to remove the U3 capability and then I was able to install the software out of my usb easily !! Good thing is I can always install U3 software back Smile

That’s it for now …

It’s Just A Thought … Fingers crossed
